Flagship Datasets

ADR UK flagship datasets are of significant research value and we anticipate will have wide appeal to researchers. This is integral to our mission to enable research that has the potential to lead to better informed policy decisions and more effective public services. 

The flagship datasets are findable in the ADR UK Data Catalogue and available for all accredited researchers to apply to access via one of ADR UK’s trusted research environments. They have approved legal gateways for research and are publicly documented.

Data First: Cross-Justice System - England and Wales

This dataset connects Ministry of Justice data from the civil and family courts with different areas of the criminal justice system. This presents an unprecedented opportunity to understand cross-cutting questions about the overlaps and intersections between users of services in different justice jurisdictions.

Data First: Family Court linked to Cafcass and Census 2021 - England and Wales

The Ministry of Justice Data First family court - Cafcass linked dataset came about from a data sharing agreement between the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databank, Ministry of Justice and Cafcass (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service). The de-identified dataset contains information on adoption, divorce, family law act, public law and private law cases, and their legal outcomes, in England and Wales.

Earnings and Employees Study 2011 - Northern Ireland

The Earnings and Employees Study 2011 links together variables from the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) 2011 with variables from the Census of Population and Housing 2011, and Capital Value data from the Land and Property Services.

Education Outcomes Linkage 2018/19 - Northern Ireland

The Education Outcomes Linkage 2018/19 is a longitudinal relational database comprised of a range of tables containing schools’ data for pupils aged 14 and over in Northern Ireland. It links together a number of datasets held by the Department of Education in Northern Ireland; the school census (including attendance data); the school leavers survey; and the exams database.

Longitudinal Education Outcomes - England

The Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO) dataset is a world-leading data product created by the Department for Education (DfE). It contains de-identified information on the characteristics, education, employment, benefits, and earnings of members of the British public.

Looked After Children - Wales

Looked After Children is a dataset provided by the Welsh Government. It contains information on children on care orders and in placements. Data also covers adoption from care and the number of children and young people leaving care.

Looked After Children Longitudinal Dataset - Scotland

This dataset brings together data of care placements and the legal basis for children being in the care of local authorities across Scotland. This allows understanding of changes in the patterns of care over time and geography, and the relationship with children’s characteristics including ethnicity, disability, and religion.

Ministry of Justice & Department for Education linked dataset - England

The MoJ-DfE linked dataset allows analysis to understand links between childhood characteristics, educational outcomes and (re)offending. The dataset includes data from Prison, Courts, Police National Computer, National Pupil Database, Looked-After-Children and Children in Need and covers variables such as demographics, offending data, school exclusions, and children in care.
