Categories: Events, Training opportunities, ADR Wales, YDG Cymru
This interactive course will provide attendees with a framework for designing and developing effective data visualisations, and equip them with the skills to critically appraise design ideas, and apply practical knowledge to identify a design brief’s key features.
Examples and inspiration will be drawn from a variety of disciplines and subject areas. Discussions and exercises will help attendees apply the design principles and concepts being used to applications focused on health, social sciences and the environment.
Learning outcomes include:
- Explaining the fundamental principles of data visualisation and the underlying purpose of using graphical representations of data
- Understanding the power of visual data representations to support communication strategies
- Objectively evaluating the success of visualisations within their research domain
- Learning how to make good design choices in the context of project-specific constraints and requirements
- Experiencing the design process, sharing creative ideas with others and learning how to elicit feedback
This course is suitable for anyone who wants to learn how to use data visualisation tools and improve communication skills using graphical representations of data. It is offered as part of the ADR Wales Datacise learning platform: an integral part of ADR Wales training and capacity-building programme of work.
