The Wage and Employment Dynamics project (WED), Office for National Statistics (ONS), and ADR UK are holding the inaugural Earnings Symposium in collaboration with the Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence.
The symposium is dedicated to exploring the latest developments, methodologies, and research applications relating to ONS earnings data and earnings statistics. It will focus on the following datasets:
- The Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE)
- His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) Pay As You Earn (PAYE) Real-Time Information data
- The Monthly Wages and Salaries Survey
- ASHE-Census 2011 and ASHE-HMRC datasets curated by the WED project.
The symposium will include presentations from the ONS and WED teams, outlining developments with these key earnings datasets. The event will also include a series of invited papers.

Call for papers
The call for papers closes on Monday 27 January.
The topics of interest are:
- New findings or insights using earnings data.
- Data and methodological advancements.
- Coherence between earnings data sources.
- Applications of linked earnings datasets in policymaking.
- Case studies demonstrating the value of earnings research.
- Future opportunities and challenges in earnings research and statistics.
Please submit:
- Extended abstracts (up to 750 words, including title and research question along with a summary of methods and results)
- Proposals for panel discussions.
Submissions should align with the symposium’s focus on earnings data, curated by ONS and the WED project.
You will receive a notification of acceptance by 11 February.
