This talk features Professor Peter Mackie (School of Geography and Planning, Cardiff University), whose research and advisory work is homelessness prevention. Peter was one of the keynote speakers at the ADR UK Conference 2023 and will discuss his innovative work around education and homelessness.
Peter will explore associations between school disengagement and homelessness, and problematise widespread assumptions about the ‘visibility’ of those who are at risk.
Agenda
- Learn how the team linked school and homelessness administrative datasets to quantify the relationship between school attendance and homelessness.
- Hear how this early research informed a school-based upstream homelessness prevention intervention.
- Find out about the emerging lessons from the new administrative data being generated through the school-based intervention.
- Pose your questions to Professor Peter Mackie during a dedicated Q&A segment.
