As part of a wider project to co-produce data research with care experienced young people, Administrative Data Research Centre Northern Ireland (ADRC NI) recently offered a summer internship for the position of Research and Communications Assistant. As an expert by lived experience, the intern’s role was to help develop a dissemination strategy and materials for research around children known to social services. An ADR Wales research team has published a Data Insight that covers the differences in educational attainment and attendance between Welsh- and European Union (EU)-born pupils. This is part of the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) Data Linkage Project, an ADR Wales initiative.
Using de-identified Welsh education data sources, ADR Wales researchers investigated transitions from compulsory education at around the age of 16 to post-compulsory education in Wales.
ADR Wales has worked with Careers Wales to examine the effectiveness of careers guidance in supporting pupils to participate in post compulsory education and training and learn how careers guidance is prioritised among pupils.
Children who participated in Scouts or Guides were around 35% more likely to report excellent health at age 50 compared to their peers, findings show.
