Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency conference: The future of education data for research in Northern Ireland
22/10/2024
This one-day conference, hosted by Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA), will mark the launch of the Education Outcomes Linkage (EOL) (2018/19 - 2021/22) dataset.
This promises to be an important event which will include presentations from policymakers and researchers who are early users of the EOL dataset. It will also provide insights into ongoing work across ADR UK and demonstrate the range of research and policy areas that the EOL has the potential to inform.
About the dataset
The EOL is a longitudinal database containing schools’ data for pupils aged 14 and over in Northern Ireland. It links together datasets held by the Department of Education in Northern Ireland: the school census (including attendance data); the school leavers survey; and the exams database.
This is the second iteration of the EOL – the first covered data for 2018/19, while this second edition now includes the years 2019/20-2021/22. The EOL is the initial stage of the development of a Longitudinal Education Outcomes database for Northern Ireland. The Longitudinal Education Outcomes dataset was developed by the Department for Education, England, and is a dataset which connects individuals’ education data with their earnings, benefits and tax data. There are also Scottish and Welsh equivalents.
