The Office for National Statistics (ONS) Research Excellence Series 2025 will kick off with presentations by Research Fellows from ADR UK. Collectively they will share insights from their research using the ADR England flagship datasets. This will explore diverse themes such as immigration, geographic mobility, and social mobility.
Meet the presenters
Dr Ezgi Kaya
Dr Ezgi Kaya is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Cardiff University and an ADR UK Research Fellow. Her research is in the areas of labour economics and economic demography. Her recent research projects investigate labour market inequalities, including in relation to gender and migration, and the evaluation of public policies.
Dr Kaya will present her findings on the links between imgration, integrated, and labour market outcomes.
Xiaowei Xu
Xiaowei Xu is a Senior Research Economist at the Institute for Fiscal Studies and an ADR UK Research Fellow. Her research focuses on economic geography and inequalities in labour market outcomes and living standards.
Xiaowei's presentation will focus on the link between geographical mobility and geographical inequalities.
Dr Francesca Foliano
Dr Francesca Foliano is an education and labour economist at the UCL Social Research Institute. She is also a research affiliate at the Stockholm School of Economics and an ADR UK Research Fellow. Her current areas of research include gender equality in the labour market and geographical and social mobility of young adults.
Dr Foliano will discuss the economic drivers of geographical mobility in England. She will share her findings regarding the consequences for social mobility among different groups of young adults.
