Children with any level of contact with the social care system face a higher risk of getting a criminal caution, a conviction, or a custodial sentence than their peers.
The Centre for Justice Innovation and the Centre for Care invite you to the launch of a new research report: Safeguarding futures: Reducing the risk of criminal justice involvement for children in contact with the social care system. This online event will lay out this research on the risks that these children face and explore practical responses to mitigate these.
Dr Anna Leyland will be talking through her findings from her ADR UK Research Fellowship. She will also demonstrate a new tool which local authorities and police forces can use to explore the risks faced by children in contact with social care in their areas. She will be joined by Caroline Adams of the College of Policing, who will look at police responses, as well as those of practitioners working directly to support children.
