This week, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has communicated the anticipated dates for the transition from the ONS Secure Research Service (SRS) to the Integrated Data Service (IDS). The ONS states that it will not accept new project applications to the SRS after 30 September 2024, with new project applications instead being made to the IDS after this date. In addition, it details that all projects that are active in the SRS will need to fully transition to the IDS by March 2026.
ADR UK is providing HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) with a £100,000 grant to explore how to improve research through HMRC’s administrative data. This HMRC project will build the evidence available to decision makers for tax policy and operations. It will also benefit other government departments, researchers, and independent research bodies who engage with HMRC’s tax and financial data.

The Leeds Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA), University of Leeds, has joined the SafePod Network. Data stored and processed by LIDA, which was previously only available via LIDA’s physical safe rooms, can now be accessed by accredited researchers using SafePods across the UK. The SafePod Network is funded by ADR UK.
