Funding opportunity from DARE UK: Supporting community interest and working groups

Category: Funding opportunities

9 October 2024

This new funding round builds on the success of DARE UK's pilot funding round from November 2023 – March 2024, during which four community groups successfully delivered impactful outputs that contributed to data research innovation across the UK.

This opportunity forms part of Phase 2 of the DARE UK programme, during which DARE UK will continue to offer further funding opportunities for community groups. ADR UK and Health Data Research UK are continuing to oversee the management and delivery of the programme.

Eligibility and funding

DARE UK is offering two separate funding calls to enhance community engagement and promote meaningful contributions:

  • Community Interest Groups – Apply for up to £60,000 to support engagement, management, and networking activities from February 2025 to March 2026.
  • Community Working Groups – Apply for up to £75,000 to produce community-defined outputs from February 2025 to January 2026.

Funding is available at 80% full economic cost (FEC) for all eligible organisations, including higher education providers, research institutes, NHS bodies, public sector research establishments, and independent research and technology organisations. For more information about eligible organisations, refer to the UKRI website.

Applications for both opportunities will close on 17 November 2024.

Additionally, working group applications must outline plans for public involvement and engagement activities, such as workshops and focus groups, to gather public input into their outputs.

How to apply

For more information about eligibility and the application process, download the interest group call specification document or working group call specification document.
