Share your views: What should the National Data Library prioritise?
Category: ADR UK Partnership

The UK Government has pledged to create a National Data Library to “bring together existing research programmes and help deliver data-driven public services, whilst maintaining strong safeguards and ensuring all of the public benefit”.
As ADR UK’s Director, Dr Emma Gordon, wrote in a blog post last year, ADR UK has been at the forefront of providing secure, ethical access to administrative data for public good research. The National Data Library has the potential to build on this foundation, but to ensure it meets the needs of researchers, wider input is needed.

If you work across academia or industry, you can now participate in a survey led by the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change and The Entrepreneurs Network.
Your feedback will help the survey team to identify and share:
- Key data demands and bottlenecks
- High-priority datasets and linkages
- Essential services to support data users.
Why is this survey being held?
The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change and The Entrepreneurs Network recently published a joint paper, Governing in the Age of AI: Building Britain's National Data Library, which outlines recommendations for the National Data Library’s development. The report also highlighted the role of ADR UK’s work in shaping the future of linked data for public good.
This survey is the next step in that work, with the survey team looking to pinpoint the most pressing data challenges and identify quick wins. The results will be published and shared with the Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology who are responsible for the next stages of development.
ADR UK will continue to update on developments for the National Data Library and the ways you can feed into the process.
