New research from the Better Outcomes from Linked Data (BOLD) team in Wales reveals that people in substance misuse treatment who experience homelessness face severe health inequalities, including higher hospital admissions, longer stays, and increased mental health diagnoses.
The research, using data from the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databank, analysed over 32,000 Welsh residents in treatment between 2014 and 2019. Findings emphasise the need for targeted support and improved healthcare planning.
Published by Public Health Wales, ADR Wales, the Welsh Government, and partners, the study is part of the BOLD programme funded by HM Treasury, which aims to improve support for people with complex needs through secure data linking.
