ADR UK Ambassadors' Handbook

ADR UK Ambassadors use their existing position and networks to support ADR UK’s mission to improve lives through administrative data research. They span a wide variety of roles and sectors across the four nations of the UK, creating a vital network to help spread the word about the power and potential of administrative data research. They build relationships and promote engagement with our programme, advocate for secure research access to data, and encourage the uptake of data-driven evidence to inform policy and practice.

By advocating for ADR UK's mission across your networks and platforms and identifying opportunities for collaboration, you are building a culture of support for administrative data research for the public good.

How can I support ADR UK?

There is no formal time or work commitment to being an ADR UK Ambassador, and it is anticipated that each Ambassador will undertake different activities depending on their role. In practical terms, supporting ADR UK as an Ambassador might include some or all of the following:

  • Advocate for the secure sharing of administrative data for research purposes, and/or the uptake of insights from research using administrative data. For example, this might involve including ADR UK in presentations, writing blogs, writing and sharing on social media, bringing ADR UK’s work to roundtables and other engagement events, facilitating the contribution of evidence.
  • Act as a relationship broker between ADR UK and your organisation or wider professional community.
  • Promote ADR UK’s work to your network.
  • Attend and engage with ADR UK events where feasible, especially events organised for Ambassadors.
  • Proactively inform ADR UK about relevant activities, engagement and opportunities for collaboration, using our online form:

Let us know about your activities!

We really want to understand the engagement activities and conversations ADR UK Ambassadors are undertaking. These could be major milestones, like joining an advisory panel, building a community or presenting at an event.

However, we're also really interested in hearing about smaller engagements which are hard to capture elsewhere, for example, a sentence or two to let us know: “I attended an economics conference and advised a researcher to look at ADR UK funding opportunities”, or “I joined a roundtable on children's social care and emphasised the importance of evidence from administrative data”. These insights are really valuable to help us understand the spaces where our Ambassadors have influence, and how we can best support you.

Use our quick online form to share your activities with us. We'll send you a quarterly reminder in the Ambassadors Exchange, but you can submit the form at any time.

We may include highlights from these updates in future editions of the Ambassadors Exchange - please indicate if you would prefer for your news not to be included.
